August 24, 2011 Dutch premiere Silent Snow in Amsterdam (in Dutch)

First Tuesday of September is Durable Tuesday: a day for society to present durable solutions to the government. Maurist Groen, who received a ‘Durable Tuesday’ ribbon last year for his various environmental initiatives, organized the Dutch premiere of Silent Snow to take place on the evening of Durable Tuesday, in the beautiful Tuschinski Theatre in Amsterdam.

Dutch Scientist Jeroen van der Sluijs (Utrecht University), climate expert and IPCC member prof. Frans Berkhout and Hugo von Meijenfeldt (Deputy Director General; Special Envoy for Climate Change at Dutch Ministry of the Environment; Ministry of Foreign Affairs) will give short lectures before the screening. Afterwards, several international cast and crew members will be interviewed by Harm Edens, the host of the evening.

Special guests

Babeth M. VanLoo (Buddhist Broadcasting Foundation), who supported the film from the start, Andre Schreuders, and executive producers Jacob Gelt Dekker and John Padget will be present at the premiere. Additionally, several cast and crew members flew across the world to be in Amsterdam for this special event: Shweta Narayan (Community Environmental Monitoring, India), Ellady Muyambi (Toxic Free Uganda), Pipaluk Knudsen-Ostermann (co-author and main character from Greeland) and cameraman Viraj Singh from India.

After the screening of Silent Snow, several hopeful initiatives will be presented to the audience, like Do The Bright Thing.

The event starts at: 20:15 (invitation only)

Silent snow is a movie that really touches you particularly because of the unsensational comment by Pipaluk and the spirit of hope it shows through the NGO-activists, some of whom were also present. So, in spite of the shocking message of the film a wonderful evening with all credits to Maurits Groen and his team.
