We were delighted that Silent Snow was selected for the section of ‘Three Colors Green’ films. This section about the environment was successfully introduced in last year’s edition of the Festival and consists of ten documentaries that show the planet's most pressing issues – and solutions for them.

Tijdens een reis van drie maanden door India en Nepal verbleven Rob van Drunen en zijn vriendin twee weken op de Organic Farm “Bijavidyapeeth” in het noorden van India. De initiatiefnemer van de farm is Dr. Vandana Shiva, die strijd tegen de vervuiling van haar land als gevolg van pesticiden en vanaf het begin betrokken is geweest bij het Silent Snow project.

The Belgian premiere of Silent Snow was perfectly organized by Leida Rijnhout (ANPED) and Chris Jacobson (ARGUS) and all of the 350 available tickets were sold out. Before the screening, Belgian polar explorer Dixie Dansercour held an interesting introduction in which he told vividly about his polar expeditions and showed us some magnificent footage.

The Fifth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention took place from 25 to 29 April at the Geneva International Conference Centre (CICG) in Geneva, Switzerland. Silent Snow had the honor to be shown on this conference on the 27th. It went great! The venue was jam-packed and many people even stood 71 minutes long to watch the film. Afterwards another record-breaking applause in my career broke lose. I could not have dared dreaming for such an enthusiastic reaction from this – professionals with a lot of knowledge on POP’s - audience.

On April 8th, Silent Snow had its US premiere at the Tallahassee Film festival in Florida and on the 10th it was also shown in Key West at the famous Tropic Cinema. The European premiere of Silent Snow (the feature length documentary) was a great success! On March 27, we had our first European screening at the Movies that Matter festival in The Hague. Many members of the cast and crew were present to celebrate this memorable day, among them polar explorer Ole Jorgen Hammeken; co-author and main character in the film Pipaluk Knudsen-Ostermann, and famous cameraman from India, Viraj Singh.

New dangers in Costa Rica by Pipaluk Knudsen-Ostermann
Arriving to San José was amazing – it was so green and beautiful with the volcanoes.
I tried to stay awake, fighting the jetlag. We went out for dinner, to a place on a hill – the view reminded me of the view in Kampala. This trip to Costa Rica was to wrap up Silent Snow, I had seen so much and was excited to see which impression this country would make on me.
