Last weekend BioFach in Nuremberg brought together many dealers and producers of ecological articles from all over the world. In the large city hall, German organization Bluepingu organized a discussion for more than 300 people.

Silent Snow looks back on a wonderful year; the feature length documentary won 6 important international awards and was shown in numerous cinemas both in the Netherlands an abroad, which means we were able to share our message with a large group of people from all over the world. Besides the success of the screenings, we had other fantastic news to share with you: in August Silent Snow’s heroine Pipaluk gave birth to a beautiful healthy little baby girl, Freya Natuk.

This fall, it was exactly fifty years ago since marine biologist and conservationist Rachel Carson published the book ‘Silent Spring’, an unsettling insight in how our environment becomes increasingly polluted by the use of pesticides like DDT.

Another success story for Silent Snow this November. This month the Silent Snow project received it’s 19th award at the FICMA Environmental Film Festival in Barcelona.

This weekend, Silent Snow won the Grand Prize Environment at Cine'eco 2012 in Seia, Portugal. This is the 5th award for Silent Snow, which makes the total number of awards for the Silent Snow project 17.

The apartment of consul general Paul Commenenda and his wife Sabina gives you a beautiful view over Ipanema beach and the lake behind it. They have organized a delicious breakfast and everyone gets to share their disappointment with each other and demand a statement of State Secretary Joop Atsma. The discontent on the achievements of the Conference is indeed strong.

I’ve been in Rio for two days now and it has been great so far. My hotel is in Copacabana, only three blocks from the beach. The neighborhoods itself resembles New York; loads of sky-high buildings, restaurants, hotels and stores. Reaching the beach is quite a challenge.

A couple of years after the presentation of the homonymous short film, the director has created a feature film that developed naturally from the initial idea, as Jan van den Berg states himself, and that the big pesticide producing companies have tried to prevent.

Last month Silent Snow won in Slovenia and Slovakia, last week at the Barcelona Human Rights Film Festival and in Roma and next week we are nominated for an award in Torino...

April has been a busy month! While its director traveled trough Ethiopia and Mozambique for his new film project (watch the trailer here), Silent Snow was screened on several festivals.
