Silent Land at the 12th International HCH and pesticides forum, by Jan van den Berg.

This fall I was therefore happy to return to the now 12th edition of the Forum in Kiev, Ukraine, which would host a preview of my first short film under the new Silent Land project: When elephants dance, the grass gets beaten. The project is a sequel to the Silent Land documentaries and has the objective to inform people about the effects of land grabbing for small local farms.

Silent Snow in Ridgefield, Connecticut US

Hundreds of people watched Silent Snow for its first screening in Ridgefield, Connecticut USA. Thanks to Moki Kokoris and Joseph Consentino more screenings, also outside Ridgefield, will follow. Newstimes.com and the Hartford Courant interviewed Jan van den Berg for the screening of Silent Snow in the Ridgefield Playhouse Film Society last week.

More awards for Silent Snow in Italy

After receiving a Special Mention at the Festival delle Terre International Audiovisual Festival of Biodiversity in Rome last year, director Jan van den Berg travelled to the beautiful coast of San Vito lo Capo on the Island of Sicily in July to host the screenings of Silent Snow at the SiciliAmbiente Film Festival.

Last weekend BioFach in Nuremberg brought together many dealers and producers of ecological articles from all over the world. In the large city hall, German organization Bluepingu organized a discussion for more than 300 people.

End of the year message

Silent Snow looks back on a wonderful year; the feature length documentary won 6 important international awards and was shown in numerous cinemas both in the Netherlands an abroad, which means we were able to share our message with a large group of people from all over the world. Besides the success of the screenings, we had other fantastic news to share with you: in August Silent Snow’s heroine Pipaluk gave birth to a beautiful healthy little baby girl, Freya Natuk.

This weekend, Silent Snow won the Grand Prize Environment at Cine'eco 2012 in Seia, Portugal. This is the 5th award for Silent Snow, which makes the total number of awards for the Silent Snow project 17.

After Rio, "It's the hunger, stupid"

The apartment of consul general Paul Commenenda and his wife Sabina gives you a beautiful view over Ipanema beach and the lake behind it. They have organized a delicious breakfast and everyone gets to share their disappointment with each other and demand a statement of State Secretary Joop Atsma. The discontent on the achievements of the Conference is indeed strong.

Silent Snow and No Fight No Victory in Rio

I’ve been in Rio for two days now and it has been great so far. My hotel is in Copacabana, only three blocks from the beach. The neighborhoods itself resembles New York; loads of sky-high buildings, restaurants, hotels and stores. Reaching the beach is quite a challenge.
